Maybe it's because girls all over the planet now think that there are hot vampires in their school now too, and that no matter how outcast (for whatever reasons) they are, the hawt vamp boyz might pick up their scent if they step in front of a fan and make them their mate for all eternity! Yay!
To be honest, I've read and seen Twilight, and though it did have something that kind of draws you in, I don't really understand the obsession either. It's nothing really ultra-special. Then again, I fangirl over things that other people don't understand either. Everyone has their thing, I guess.

I will admit I've read it, and I've seen it, and it was good. Just... what people don't get was that it was just good. Not original, not particularly clever, just not that great.
